Black Tights, also known as 1-2-3-4, is a filmed ballet divided into four sections.
Maurice Chevalier is the narrator of both the French and English versions.
Zizi plays the part of a thief who forgoes her life of crime for the love of a man. Roland Petit plays Cyrano to Moira Shearer's Roxanne. As in the 1959 film, Cyrano, the music is composed by Marius Constant.
Cyd Charisse gets embroiled in a love triangle in the third episode and Zizi reappears in the fourth part as Carmen.
The British director Terence Young went on to direct the first James Bond movies, Dr No and From Russia With Love.

This is the first ballet created by Roland Petit in 1945.
It underscores his extraordinary talent and sensitivity.
Written with the collaboration of Boris Kochno, Christian Bérard and the great composer Henri Sauguet (who passed away in 1989), it is dedicated to the late Erik Satie. It was presented as a television production in 1961 with costumes designed by Yves Saint Laurent. Staged over 2,000 times, this ballet met with great international success even in China.
